Wine Video of the Week: Cork Soakers

Sure, it’s totally and utterly nonsensical. But it’s the funniest and raunchiest wine-related skit that Saturday Night Live has aired. Oddly, this featured a very young Janet Jackson (love the fact that she can’t keep a straight face during the shoot). This is a classic, but it’s also NSFW. Consider yourself warned!

Wine Video of the Week: Drunken Wine Critic!

Jason Rodriguez is the drunken wine critic, and this is #2 in the series. I hope to post all of them, but we will start with my current favorite. In this episode, Jason reviews  a Chianti from Castello del Trebbio and a Shiraz from Greg Norman Winery.  This is a bit closer to the truth than most wine critics would like to admit. He’s going to have a 90 point hangover tomorrow morning.

Brew in Vinetown

How do you sell beer in a country known largely for it’s wine? For New Zealand brewer DB Export Dry, you do the only rational thing possible: you make a hilariously retro video that equates wine drinking with the 80′s.

Wish I thought of that.

Imagine being able to try a dozen different wines in an evening. Maybe even watch a video of a sommelier talking about those very wines. Hell, maybe even ask him/her questions via a live online feed. It would be like wine school without me (sigh). Brixr has taken the concept and are using TinyBottles (a kinda new packaging  program in which suppliers can offer their wines in taste-sized portions) to create  virtual wine classes/tastings. Very cool concept, and I really wish I thought of that first!

The tastings packs are pretty reasonable, and the concept is very very cool.

Twitter and Crushpad

Twitter and Crushpad have joined forces for charity.  For each bottle of Fledgling Wine sold, $5 will go to the charity Room to Read.  Geek.com has video here, and Steve Heimoff’s interview with Crushpad CEO Michael Brill can be found here.
