Bodegas Pedro Escudero 2009 “Fuente Elvira” Verdejo
A singularly modern style of Rueda that is taking it’s cues from it’s brethren up in Rioja. Reductive winemaking combined with barrel fermentation is doing wonders for Spanish whites, in particular Verdejo.
Creamy peach and quince are layered with hazelnut and a slight whiff of black tea married with vanilla. A richness follows into a satisfying finish of star anise and ultra-ripe pears.
